Highland Township contracts with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office to provide law enforcement services. This provides Highland Township with Community Oriented Policing, Traffic Enforcement and Education, Investigations, School Liaison Officer, and a dedicated Weighmaster.
The Highland Substation is staffed with 20 Deputies: 1 Lieutenant, 1 Patrol Sergeant, 2 Investigators, 1 School Liaison Officer, 14 Patrol Deputies, 1 Weighmaster, and 1 Civilian Office Manager.
By contracting with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, we also have access to specialized services that may be needed from time to time. These may include: Aviation Unit, Marine Unit, Mounted Unit, Computer Crimes Unit, Special Investigations Unit, SWAT Team, Dive Team, Forensic Lab, Traffic Unit, Auto Theft, Fire Investigations Unit, and Narcotics Unit. Law enforcement services for Highland Township are funded through a dedicated operating millage and grants.
