NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

HEARINGS OF PRACTICABILITY  AND SPECIAL ASSESSMENT

 

LAKE IMPROVEMENT BOARD FOR CHARLICK LAKE

 

            Notice is hereby given that the Lake Improvement Board for Charlick Lake, in the Township of Highland, County of Oakland, will meet at the Highland Township Offices, located at 205 North John Street, in  Highland, Michigan at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The Purpose of the meeting is to conduct Public Hearings of Practicability and Special Assessment to review, to determine the practicability of, to hear any objections to, and to confirm a 5-year Special Assessment Roll and Budget for the purposes of implementing an Aquatic Weed Control Program for the years 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030 and 2031 for the improvement of the Charlick Lake. The total assessment for the 5- year program is estimated at $154,471.70 to cover the proposed budget of $158,350 with the amount of $532.23 per lot to be assessed annually. The Special Assessment Roll will be on file at the Highland Township Offices for public examination.

 

            Any person may appeal and be heard at the said Hearing which is called pursuant to the provisions of Section 30913 Part 309 of Public Act No. 451 of 1994, as amended. Act 186 of the Public Acts of Michigan, 1973, as amended, provides that the special assessment must be protested at the Hearing held for the purpose of confirming the Special Assessment Roll before the Michigan Tax Tribunal may acquire jurisdiction of any special assessment dispute. Appearance and protest of the special assessment at the time and place of review is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal. An owner of or party in interest in property to be assessed, or his or her agent, may appear in person to protest the special assessment, or may protest the special assessment by letter filed with the Water Resources Commissioner Office, Attention: Mr. Ron Fadoir, One Public Works Drive, Building 95 West, Waterford, Michigan 48328-1907, at or prior to the time of review, in which case personal appearance is not required. If the special assessment is protested as provided above, the owner or any party having an interest in the real property may file a written appeal of the special assessment with the Michigan Tax Tribunal within 30 days after the confirmation of the Special Assessment Roll has been published in a newspaper of general circulation.
