  • A United States citizen
  • 18 years of age (by election day)
  •  A resident of the township 30 days prior to the election

A completed application can be mailed, emailed or brought in person to the Township Clerk's office.  You can also register to vote at your local Secretary of State office.

NOTE: Your voter information can be viewed at Secretary of State Voter Information Center.

Polls are open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS:

Absent voter ballots are available for all elections. They provide voters with a convenient method for casting a ballot when they are unable to attend the polls on election day.

As a registered voter, you may obtain an absent voter ballot if you are:

  • age 60 years old or older
  • unable to vote without assistance at the polls
  • expecting to be out of town on election day
  • in jail awaiting arraignment or trial
  • unable to attend the polls due to religious reasons
  • appointed to work as an election inspector in a precinct outside of your precinct of residence

If you are 60 or older, you are eligible to be on our Permanent Absentee Voter list which allows us to send you an absent voter application for all future elections.  After you return the completed application, you will then receive a ballot as soon as they are available.  No more waiting in lines at the precinct!  If this interests you, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 248-887-3791, ext. 5.

Please be aware that if you are on extended leave from Highland, your application can not be forwarded.  Instead, you can find applications available on line at www.Michigan.gov/vote. Be sure to indicate if you wish your ballot to be sent to an address other than your registered voting address here in Highland.

Note also, you can visit www.Michigan.gov/vote to view sample ballots (when available), find your voting location, register to vote or track your absentee ballot.
