Highland Township offers free Hazardous Waste disposal every 18 months. The next Household Hazardous Waste Day is April 29 2017 from 8 am until Noon.

If you have items that cannot wait for the Township event you can visit one of the 4 events set up through Oakland County. There is a $50 charge that must be paid for with exact cash amount or a check made out to Oakland County No Haz. Click here to view dates and locations for 2016.

EGR  13040 Merriman Rd Livonia (734)459-3800 cost for disposal is 0.75$ per pound. One (1) gallon of liquid weights approximately 8 pounds. They also accept gasoline.

Latex Paint Only

Remove the lid add kitty litter or sawdust to absorb the liquid. After the paint is absorbed dump the kitty litter or sawdust, into a regular trash bag and place into garbage. Place the empty paint can with the lid removed for pick up with the regular trash.


BBQ Propane Tanks

Blue Rhino-Many landfills, recycling centers, and scrap metal dealers cannot recycle unwanted tanks because of the residual propane inside. However, most propane exchange companies, including Blue Rhino, will take them and recycle them at no cost to you. Simply leave your empty beside a propane exchange display. AmeriGas- Have unwanted 20 lb propane tanks? Tanks are not generally acceptable for standard trash disposal and movers will not take them, so what can you do? Just contact the local AmeriGas office nearest you to safely dispose of your propane tanks. There is no fee for this service.
