You may claim a principal residence exemption (PRE), and therefore a lower tax rate, if you own and occupy your home before June 1st. Non-PRE properties are rental or second homes, commercial and vacant properties. 2016 rates were

30.914 for PRE properties and 48.8132 for non-PRE.

If you need to change the name on a property call our assessing department at 887-3791 x 3.

To figure out your tax bill take the millage rate times your taxable value divided by 1000. Example:

A home has a SEV of 75,000 and a Taxable value of 50,000

     30.914 (2016 PRE millage rate) X

50,000(taxable value) / 1000 = $1545.70.49 plus any special assessments (trash pick up, lake levels, etc.)
